no.1. Sharing Small Fragments

Hey there, my friend!
Recently, I’ve been in cave mode, without sending emails, nor publishing anything to social media for the last couple of months.
This happened for a couple major reasons:
1. Lately, my life went through big changes, including the end of a long-term relationship (of 5.5 years), which invited me into an internal process of solitude, healing, and contemplation.
2. Simultaneously, I’ve been in monk-mode working hard on the concepts and structure for my new course: Holistic Life Design & Tana Knowledge Agents.
3. Recently I realized that I’m naturally hard-wired for depth and complexity. This makes me uncomfortable sharing simple and easy ideas.
Life invited me to slow down and to focus inside. And I humbly listened.
But after some very important time for inner work… Time for action!
Time to shift gears.
Time to make stuff.
Time for outer work.
That said…
Welcome to the first edition of Fis Fragments!!
This is a brand new format I will be exploring for the next months, possibly years.
From now on, you will receive one Fragment of my Knowledge every week.
As you may recall, my previous format was the Fis Letters. Now it’s time for Fis Fragments.
“But Fis, what’s the difference between Letters and Fragments?”
Well, I’m glad you asked!
The main difference is that Fragments focus on one single idea.
Letters were longer, with more depth, more connections, and more complexity.
Fragments are shorter and simpler, with more constraints, allowing for more speed.
Letters were also more formal, I saw them as articles, while I see Fragments as being informal experiments, with freedom to be myself, and share a personal message with you during the fragment.
This gives me freedom to talk about topics I’m interested in, but wouldn’t want to write a huge article about.
And I have LOT’S of topics I want to talk about!
Just to illustrate, I plan on talking about: Tana, Personal Knowledge Management (PKM), Systems Thinking, Holistic Life Design, Journalling, Self-Knowledge, Psychology, Neurodivergence, Personal Growth, Health & Longevity, Vision & Purpose, Artificial Intelligence, Commands & Prompts, Automations, Future of Humanity, Quantum Physics, New Earth, Spirituality, Nature of Consciousness, and (many) other adjacent topics.
Fragments will be related to any of these topics and usually inter-connected within themselves.
As I mentioned earlier, I recently understood I’m naturally oriented towards depth and complexity. This means I have a strong desire to dive deep into everything I’m interested in, to notice connections between everything, and to create huge and complex solutions, instead of simple ones.
By creating Fragments instead of Letters I am creating a framework to force simplicity upon myself.
I want a constraint to express myself more often and with more ease.
By focusing on one idea, I create a filter for my mind. I can write faster and with less pressure.
I hope to stop that part of me who is constantly screaming:
“WAIT FIS, BUT THIS IS RELATED TO THAT, WHICH IS A POWERFUL CONNECTION”
THESE TOPICS ARE ALL PART OF THAT OTHER GRAND THEORY, YOU’VE GOT TO MENTION IT”
”Enough, Mr. Complex Fis. ✋🏼 Basta.”
Time for simplicity and convergence.
This is actually a move I’ve been planning for quite some time, but only now I’ve become mature enough to understand how to tame my own complex thought patterns.
Let’s use simplicity to battle complexity.
It’s the balance of the opposites. A timely matter, since in the time of writing, the Sun finds itself in Libra (Libra is also my Sun sign), which represents the archetype of balance.
Finally, this reflection comes from the intersection of a few ideas brought up at the Second Brain Summit, organized by Tiago Forte:
1. People with Giftedness (neurodivergence) have a huge drive for complexity. (Me)
2. Complex people should find solutions based on simplicity. (Billy Broas)
3. There is a big opportunity cost in not sending a weekly email. (Jo Franco)
4. Tiny Experiments allow you to collect more data points, and experiments remove the fear of failure. (Anne-Laure, Ness Labs)
5. Networked notetaking is extremely powerful. (Nick Milo)
The combination of these has resulted in this new format of Fis Fragments:
Every week, Fis, a complex guy (1.), will be going through a Tiny Experiment (4.), in the format of a simple (2.) weekly email (3.).
But wait…
”Where does the idea of networks (5.) fit in here?” – You ask.
Well, I’m still driven by complexity, it’s not as if I can be instantly healed, and magically become a simple guy.
Every email is part of a network.
Every idea is always connected to the whole.
Every fragment is always connected to a bigger picture.
”But let’s not get carried away…” – Simple Fis intervenes
This will be the topic of our next Fragment.
📝 Quick note on Holistic Life Design & Tana Knowledge Agents:
Great news! I’m approaching a final date for launch of the course, it should be late October or early November.
I will probably launch the course as a Cohort-based course, with 4 weeks of duration, including ‘offline’ material, as well as live sessions, and office hours, so that I can get direct feedback from you, and provide the best possible support for you during this process.
Stay tuned, and click the button below to join the waitlist and get exclusive bonuses, discounts, and to know important dates and details.
