Memories
In 1984 my dad was attending a further education course and he is convinced that Bananarama (all three) were at the same college. I think they were probably a bit busy at that point and so it was probably some look alike fans but I don’t want to spoil his story so don’t tell him.
We’re on holiday so split this across 3 of us, 1 track each, and we all feel like we’ve let down Nik Kershaw and Alison Moyet but they just got edged out because White Lines blew our collective minds in ‘84 and Tom Bailey was cute. This was such a great album overall, could’ve ticked at least double figures. And also; Phil Collins.
The only record we had on vinyl that wasn’t classical – must have listened 1000 times as a minimum! Still have it on the shelf – completely unlistenable too of course!
Mostly a list of songs burned into my head by repeated listening while doing A’ Level revision. Radio Luxembourg as the only pop station that played thru the night. However, they had an hourly Power Play so Alison Moyet’s Love Resurrection is a song I got to hate then (but will listen to nowadays).
What a cracking collection of pop
My big brother bought “Smalltown Boy” on 12 inch so we played it a *lot* in our house. I bought the “Two Tribes” 12 inch but Frankie’s sex-and-politics stuff mostly went way over my head.
Mainly listening to the radio, and some songs are so ingrained…
